UN Global Compact principles

Hoist Finance is a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact and the Ten Principles on Human rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-corruption. The principles are derived from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption. As a signatory, we issue an annual Communication on Progress (CoP) to describe our progress within the four areas, as well as a CEO statement assuring continued support.

Human rights

Principle 1

Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.

 

Principle 2

Businesses should make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

Examples of activites:

  • Protecting our customers’ right to privacy by processing personal data fairly and in accordance with applicable data protection laws and regulations.
  • Providing safe and healthy working conditions, guaranteeing freedom of association, non-discrimination, abolishing forced labour or child labour, providing access to preventative health care programs and access tools to minimise mental health issues.
  • Whistleblowing mechanism.
  • Sustainability due diligence on third parties, including human rights aspects.
  • Supplier Code of Conduct in place, applicable to third parties and including human rights aspects.

Labour

Principle 3

Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.

Principle 4

Businesses should uphold the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour.

Principle 5

Businesses should uphold the abolition of child labour.

Principle 6

Businesses should uphold the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

 

Example of activities:

  • Freedom of association in all markets. 
  • Pay is based on industry, local market and collective agreements and is reviewed annually.
  • Commitment to the abolishment of all forced and child labour in policies and in Supplier Code of Conduct, applicable to our value chain.
  • Sustainability due diligence on third parties, including labour aspects.
  • Whistleblowing mechanism.
  • Diversity policy in place and Diversity and inclusion-related targets integrated within our sustainability KPIs.

Environment

Principle 7

Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.

Principle 8

Businesses should undertake intitiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.

Principle 9

Businesses should encourage the develpment and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Example of activities:

  • Reporting on our CO2 emissions according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG) Protocol.
  • Greenhouse Gas reduction targets integrated within our sustainability KPIs.
  • Continuously integrating climate change risk within our risk management framework and disclose assessed climate change risk according to the TCFD (Task Force of Climate-Related Financial Disclosures), climate-related incidents and the share of operational risks assessed as climate-related or induced, in our Annual and Sustainability Report.
  • Sustainability due diligence on third parties, including environmental aspects.
  • Supplier Code of Conduct in place, applicable to third parties and including environmental aspects.
  • Managing our ICT equipment so that it can be reused and recycled in a secure manner.

Anti-Corruption

Principle 10

Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

Examples of activities:

  • Preventing, monitoring, managing and enforcing measures related to corruption and conflicts of interest. Furthermore, we are actively working on strengthening the company’s defence against money laundering and terrorist financing by improving key processes.
  • All employees receive training on anti-money laundering and anti-corruption annually.
  • Hoist Finance’s anti-corruption index is measured and assessed annually since 2021 and measures our employees' knowledge and behaviours related to conflicts of interests and bribery.
